Coronavirus Information
Keep checking this page for updates and ways to serve!
As concerns increase this week surrounding the coronavirus (COVID-19), we are committed to doing whatever we can to provide a safe environment for you and your family.
While God has not given us a spirit of fear, He has called us to love our neighbors and to contribute to the welfare of our community. Exercising caution is not merely wise, but is a tangible way of expressing love toward others.
Listed below our FBC Woodsboro's current decisions and recommendation on how to be involved.
1. Weekly Gatherings
As of 5/3/2020 we are holding our regular weekly gatherings and Bible studies. However, we ask if you are unwell or at risk please stay at home. When you come please wear a mask and practice social distancing. We will have Sunday school and children's church on Sunday. Wednesdays will consist of Youth and our Adult/family service. We will continue to monitor the situation prayerfully and carefully. We encourage you to practice social distancing but still find ways to communicate the gospel to those around you. You can watch all of our usual services on our facebook page if you choose to remain at home.
We will also be reading through the book of Psalms as a church. One of our pastors will post a daily video talking about the Psalm of the day. Feel free to comment on each video to boost a type of community.
The Bible teaches us that God rules of everything and has blessed us with everything that we have, including our finances. When we give to the furtherance of the Kingdom of God we are not only being obedient to God’s call for all of His followers to give, but also showing that we trust God to provide for our needs more than green paper. If you prefer, you can always give directly to the church Monday through Thursday from 9 am-12:00 pm or by mail to PO Box 671 Woodsboro, TX 78393. Would you join us in worshipping God through giving and seeing God use those finances to further Gospel proclamation, support missionaries, support our ministries, and help families in need?
2. Prayer
Praying at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication. To that end, keep alert with all perseverance, making supplication for all the saints, and also for me, that words may be given to me in opening my mouth boldly to proclaim the mystery of the gospel, for which I am an ambassador in chains, that I may declare it boldly, as I ought to speak. - Ephesians 6:18-20
While we do not know what will happen as the situation changes or progresses, we can pray to the One who knows and is in control of the situation. Will you join us in prayer?
1. Pray for the virus to cease and for those affected by the disease to recover.
2. Pray for our government and other leaders. Pray for the President, our Governor, Mayor Kay, and local school boards as they continue to asses the situation and make decisions. Pray for wisdom and guidance.
3. Pray for FBC Woodsboro. Pray that we would be a shining example of the gospel and an out pouring of love to our communities.
4. Pray for our missionaries around the world who are currently serving as ambassadors of God. Pray as they continue to offer the hope of the gospel.
3. Ways to Serve
Christians have always been a group of people who serve in the midst of crisis and uncertainty because we have an eternal hope through our salvation in Jesus Christ.
Love on Your Neighbors
Check on your immediate neighbors. Make sure they were able to get the basic necessities they will need to make it through the day.
The Elderly
Write an elderly person a card letting them know that you are available if they need you to run and pick them up anything. Volunteer to go grocery shopping, pick up their medication, or to cook them a meal.
The Refugio Nursing Home
The Refugio nursing home is currently closed to outside visitors, and they are confining the patients to their rooms in order to limit the spread of the virus. They are currently in need of various items to entertain their residents while being confined. They are looking for playing cards, crayons with coloring books, work books, and puzzles. You can either bring those items by the church office or take them to the nursing home yourself.
Keep Another Kid
If you are blessed with being able to stay at home with your children, you can also volunteer to watch someone's kids for a couple of days. As schools are currently (and may remain) closed, working parents will be looking for places for their kids to go. This is a great way to love on your community!
Meals For Kids
Many kids depend on the school for food throughout the week. If you know of a family who cannot feed their kids breakfast and/or lunch consider taking them food. If you are in a situation where you do not have the means to provide food for another family, please get them in touch with the church office. We have people on standby who are ready to help.
